Lidia Kirov's paintings are quite contemporary, but with traditional aspects. They are contemporary in terms of an on-going experimentation with spontaneity, layering and abstraction. her musical background (she plays violin) has deepened her awareness of harmony and melody. In practice, her paintings are uniquely imbued with layers of ideas, stories and emotions, as they mirror her diverse passions and influences.
Bulgarian born, she escaped the communist regime with her parents in 1969. After a long journey through former Yugoslavia and Italy the Kirov family immigrated to the U.S. , her first interest in art manifested itself at age 13, her natural skills for painting portraits gave this young teenager her first source of incom and a full scholorship to the School of The Art Institute of Chicago by age 14.
Lidia Kirov joined a private "atelier" shared by seasoned professional artists in their 50's and 60's, once again, her natural gift for painting is recognized by her entourage; so well, that she ends up being constantly asked to corect and monitor her elders verious works .
From then on , Kirov's reputation only expands and her work is shown in art galleries in Chicago , NY, Boston, Miami, Beverly Hills.
In 1989 Lidia Kirov moves to Paris, France, in order to perfect her art, she now divides her time between France and California.
